At its meeting today, 3rd March 2024, DiU unanimously agreed to endorse an open letter from 40 health groups, calling on the the global health and human rights community to condemn the deliberate destruction of Gaza’s health system by the IDF and its genocide against the Palestinian people.
The open letter was co-ordinated by the Health Justice Initiative in South Africa. The letter includes 8 HEALTH RELATED DEMANDS which call for concerted action by health organisations to condemn the deliberate targeting of health facilities and health workers by Israel, and to support health workers in their own countries who speak out against the genocide. The demands also call for the isolation of Israel from international health organisations, conferences and research programs for its war crimes against hospitals and health workers in Palestine.
