Doctors in Unite fully support our colleagues in the RCN in their strike action.
No one withdraws their labour lightly but there comes a point when to carry on is more detrimental than to stop.
Nurses work extremely hard and with dedication at the best of times, never more so than during the pandemic, yet their pay has been eroded relentlessly over the last decade, to such an extent that some are having to resort to food banks. This is a disgrace.
We need a properly paid nursing workforce with attractive terms and conditions to stem the haemorrhage away from the profession, otherwise the NHS will collapse – and who will be there to care for us when we are ill?
Claps don’t pay the bills!
Solidarity.
